A little throwback of this crazy year…
JANUARY, FEBRUARY, MARCH UNTIL 17
(Isabelle’s birthday… What were you thinking?)
Like every year, it’s the replenishment of stocks. Intense period, big days, big weeks and ultimately big months. But it’s not just that, it’s also to include in these new productions, these little suggestions that you can send back to us and which allow us to progress again and again. It is also the planning of our fairs and exhibitions. Without forgetting the work behind the scenes, carried out by Noémie and Isabelle, namely settling the previous year (inventory, accounting, etc.) and preparing for the upcoming tourist season. It is also the abnormally late sowing of our cereals this year due to excessively heavy rainfall in November and December that forced this postponement. Adapt again.
FROM MARCH 17 TO MAY 11
What a swing!!! We are living in an unprecedented period of life called “confinement”. I don’t hide it, living it, lost in the Périgord countryside, was not a total burden when in addition, a very sunny or even very dry sequence…gave us the impression of being on vacation…this is almost indecent. (He said holidays, I dream…or rather, I dream of it) Ah, Isa is not far away.
A small period of hesitation as to the strategy to be adopted with regard to the safety of personnel and the maintenance of activity all the same. How to lay off and slow down activity when you have animals on a farm?
Dialogue with the whole team: constructive reflections, positive reactions (bravo). So we produced normally, with all the necessary and recommended precautions. On the other hand, at the level of sales activity, an almost flat electroencephalogram. More tourists, more visits, more buses at the Domaine. But a very positive note thanks to your loyalty: you responded in number to our April offer on our online store (free shipping). And a big thank you for your messages of sympathy and encouragement. Always adapt.
FROM MAY 11 TO JUNE 30
“Deconfinement”. For us, no big change. Routine. No tourists either. On the other hand, signs that do not lie and tell us that you have ants in your legs and a need for green landscapes. And since you can no longer fly, what better than the Périgord countryside to isolate yourself. So the phone started ringing, ringing, ringing. And within a week, our lodgings for the 2 months of vacation were rented. There, Isabelle said to me: we will probably have a good summer season.
JULY 1 – SEPTEMBER 30
The feminine sixth sense, no doubt? Well seen. Vacationers as if it were raining. You know the adage, the misfortune of some is the happiness of others. Grounded planes save the tourist season in our region and probably elsewhere as well. What can we do, that’s the way it is. But in the meantime, this upturn has cheered us up by restoring a little bit of our cash flow. But let’s not cry victory, the year is not over.
On the other hand, we were very, very hot. Not a storm all summer. The meadows are burned. The harvest of cereals and straw is a disaster following a very dry spring. From memory, I think it has never been so low in yield.
From September 2 to 6, I am leaving for Belfort, to take part in our traditional wine and gastronomy fair, which has been authorized to take place. Well, you weren’t many, but we were happy to see you. Thanks for coming.
And there, it’s no longer adapting, but it’s doing with it!!!
OCTOBER 1 – DECEMBER 31
This sequence remains to be written. We remain suspended from the decisions of the prefects as to the holding
of our essential fairs and markets for us at the end of the year.
Keep in touch with us through our website, Facebook, and Instagram to follow
all last minute information.
See you soon
